Shepherd of the Lakes offers several extracurricular opportunities.
Shepherd of the Lakes is part of the Mid Michigan Independent Athletic Association which includes area private schools and small public schools. SOTL fields a cross country, girls volleyball, co-ed soccer, boys basketball, and girls basketball teams for students in grades five through eight.
Our school generally offers a soccer club to our younger students. Most recently, our club has been sponsored by Soccer Shots.
A free Math Club is offered Mondays after school. The kindergarten through second graders and the third through eighth graders meet on alternating weeks. Check the FastDirect calendar for which grades meet on which Mondays.
Cub Scouts, beginning in first grade, provides boys with the opportunity to learn skills and earn badges.
Our Girl Scout program provides girls with opportunities to learn skills and earn badges. Kindergarten and first graders are Daisies, second and third graders are Brownies, and our older girls are Juniors.
We generally offer seasonal running clubs to our boys and girls in third and fourth grades.
Beginning in first grade, many students from our school participate in Community Bible Church’s recreational basketball league. Several of our parents coach, and our students play on those teams or other teams.
A praise band of singers and instrumentalists in grades four through eight meets regularly to practice. They play in our weekly chapel service.
Although concert band is a graded class for our sixth through eighth graders, it does meet before school three days a week. Students are responsible for renting or purchasing their own instruments.
