Mrs. Melissa Stouffer attended Catholic schools from preschool through high school. Throughout her school career she played clarinet and saxophone in marching, concert, and jazz bands as well as sang in various choirs.
During college, Mrs. Stouffer played in the Michigan Marching Band and Central Michigan’s Marching Chippewas as well as concert bands with both schools as and CMU’s Saxophone Ensemble. She also sang in choir and even sang at Carnegie Hall with CMU on Easter Sunday in 2004.
Mrs. Stouffer earned a bachelor of science in psychology and a bachelor of music education from Central Michigan University. Since then she has taught band, general music, and choir to students of all ages, infants to high school seniors. Mrs. Stouffer is Kodály Level One certified and serves as the president-elect of the Michigan Kodály Educators. She also sings with the Livingston County Chorale. Mrs. Stouffer joined the SOTL staff in 2013. In 2009 she married her college sweetheart, Sam, who she met in band at CMU. They live in New Hudson with their dog, Cindy Lou Who.
