Dress Code

• Pants – any navy, black, brown, or khaki pants or cargo pants. No denim, nylon, or knit (for example, sweatpants).
• Shorts – any navy, black, brown, or khaki shorts – when weather is appropriate. Shorts must be at least fingertip length. No denim, nylon, or knit.
• Shirts – any solid color polo, turtleneck, or shirt with collar. Acceptable variations are a small emblem or a SOTL Spirit Wear emblem. Shirts are to be tucked in for Grades 1 through 5.
• Sweaters – any solid color turtleneck, pullover, or cardigan. A dress code shirt is required under pullovers or cardigans.
• Sweatshirts- any solid color zip up or pullover with or without hood. Acceptable variations are a small emblem or a SOTL Spirit Wear emblem. A dress code shirt is required under sweatshirts.
• Socks- any solid color.
• Shoes – tennis shoes are preferred; dress shoes must permit outdoor activity. Excluded are boots, crocs, wheels, and lights.
• Belts- Belts must be worn when belt loops are present for grades 2 through 5. In prekindergarten, kindergarten, and first grade, belts are optional.
• No oversized clothing.

GIRLS

• Pants – any navy, black, brown, or khaki pants. No denim, low-rise, nylon, or knit (for example, sweatpants or yoga pants).
• Shorts – any navy, black, brown, or khaki– when weather is appropriate. Shorts must be at least fingertip length. No denim, nylon, or knit.
• Skorts, skirts, and jumpers – any navy, black, brown, or khaki. Shorts, skirts, and jumpers must be at least fingertip length. No denim.
• Dresses – must be a solid color polo style dress with collar.
• Shirts – any solid color polo, turtleneck, or blouse with collar. Acceptable variations are a small emblem or a SOTL Spirit Wear emblem. Shirts are to be tucked in for Grades 1 through 5.

On Fridays, students may wear jeans with a dress code shirt or t-shirts with school logos, such as school musical t-shirts.

Students at Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran School are to be neatly dressed at all times. Parent cooperation is key. If a student is out of dress code, the following consequences will apply.

First Infraction (no belt, etc.)- Parent contact by the principal or teacher asking you to review the dress code infraction with your child to clarify the matter with the focus on a second infraction not occurring.

Second Infraction – Request by the principal or teacher for appropriate substitute clothing to be sent to school on the following day and remain at school until the end of the following month for possible emergency use. If no additional infraction occurs during that time period, the item will be returned.
